You can explore the colorful murals on the walls of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and admire the 360-ton works by local artists. You can also take in some of the famous artworks, including a 65-foot-tall sculpture that weighs more than three hundred tons.
Another great place to visit is the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, an historic landmark with 46 million recorded documents, hours of audio recordings, and thousands of photographs. The Old Courthouse Museum, the oldest courthouse in Southern California, is located on the site. It houses the Orange County archives and features exhibits on local and regional history. After a day at the Center, you may want to shop for unique gifts and souvenirs in the nearby Little American Business District. You can find everything from big name albums to vintage records, as well as artwork and artisanal restaurants. You can even catch a live performance at the LAB, which is housed in a vintage Airstream travel trailer. Or, you can try something different at Organic Designs by Aggelige, where you can buy terrariums and succulent arrangements.
While you’re in town, you can enjoy some showbiz history at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which was the site of the first Academy Awards ceremony. It also houses the famous El Capitan Theatre, which hosted the movie premiere of Citizen Kane in 1941. The Disney-owned El Capitan is home to a world-class organ that sends sound through 2,500 pipes.
